Adopt a dog:Flap Jack/Pit Bull Terrier/Male/Baby,Meet the Scrap Yard Crew 2.0 aka the “foodies”. Backstory: Back in January 2024 we learned of a scrap yard private business that had a family of dogs on site. They asked us for help with the female puppies from that litter and they told us they would have mom spayed. We took them in and they were the sweetest girls you ever met! They have all been adopted to wonderful families across the country. Fast forward to May 2024 and guess what? Mom was never spayed and now already there is another litter of 8 puppies. The puppies were small and there were predators all around the scrap yard, including coyotes and snakes. We went to meet them and only agreed to take the puppies - all 8 if they also surrendered mom this time. They thankfully agreed. There are 8 puppies in total – 4 boys and 4 girls! Each have their own Petfinder profile, though one girl is already adopted! We had one wonderful foster family step up to take the entire family, mom and 8 babies! So we named them “food names”! They went from scrap yard babies to foodies overnight! All of the puppies are small, between 6-9 lbs. They are probably 5-6 weeks old. We expect that they will get bigger though. The other puppies from the previous litter are growing to be around 45-60 lbs. We suspect dad is the same, but can’t be certain. Obviously, we know mom is the same. Mom is skittish, of course. She was dumped at this industrial area and has had litter after litter of puppies. She was not abused, but also not treated with kindness or love. But she is just the sweetest dog. And the previous litter of puppies were so sweet and smart. We know this litter will be just the same. They are already so cute, playful and snuggly. They were very smart when we picked them up. No accidents in the car from any of the 8 and we put down puppy pads in the vet’s office and they used those instead of going in their crates or on the floor. Very smart for puppies that age. Adopt a dog:Sleepy/Husky/Male/Baby,Meet our Snow White litter! Mama Snow White aka Snowy (see her in the pictures) gave birth to these sweet babies in a drainage ditch. One of the puppies wandered off and was found. Our volunteers looked everywhere for Mama and the rest of the puppies but couldn't find her until some landscapers were working around her hiding spot and she came out to defend her puppies! If not for the brave little pup, the whole family might not have been found though. Our finder is a wonderful woman who agreed to foster Snowy and all of her babies! So now they are safe and will never know life on the streets again! So, now meet our little Dwarves! This is Sleepy! We have a separate post for each puppy! They are the sweetest little pups. Just learning how to eat on their own and wean from mom. They are sweet, friendly and playful. Kid and dog friendly. Their little personalities are starting to show. Mom is a very petite husky mix so we believe the puppies will be medium size when fully grown, though we are unsure. We do not have any information on the dad. Adopt a dog:Fiona/Chihuahua/Female/Baby,Franky, Fiona, Fae, Fara, and Flo are the 5 surviving puppies of a litter of 9. 1 male and 4 females. These babies only weigh about 3.5 lbs. each. Between how itty bitty they are and their big ears, they could fly away!! Their ears are the absolutely cutest, and we wonder if they will ever grow into them. Born February 18th, 2024, these pups have not had the easiest life. They were born under a home to a stray chihuahua mix, and the people wanted nothing to do them. As we were trying to make room to intake them as all rescues have been full, they caught parvo at the home they were born in. We were contacted after 3 of the puppies had already passed away, with the remaining ones on deaths door. We immediately took the remaining 6 in, and 1 unfortunately passed away within hours of us taking them. These 5 babies have survived parvo and now are healthy, happy puppies. Parvo is a deadly virus that can easily kill puppies, especially ones as small of these. There are NO long-term effects of parvo, and you wouldn’t even know they had it otherwise. The only good thing about parvo is that it’s a slim chance to zero chance they ever get it again. These pups love you once they get to know you and trust you. The foster has spent a couple weeks with them and they’re her best friends already. They love to give kisses once they know you’re not there to hurt them. They are a bit timid at first and will definitely need a medium to quite calm household that has patience and understanding that they have not had an easy life to start off with. They are still puppies, so they do have the puppy energy, but they tire out fast and would rather cuddle and be close to their humans. As of right now, we are not recommending young children as these are VERY tiny puppies that with sudden and fast movements get very scared, very quickly. They are almost scared of their own shadow sometimes. They love other dogs but it takes a little bit for them to come around. Another dog in the home would probably benefit them as another dog would help build confidence. They have met kitties and they are quite scared of them. With time, they could live happily in a home with a friendly kitty who won't be mean to them. We do not believe these babies will get over 10-12 lbs full grown, potentially 15, given how tiny they are currently. While we do not know who dad is, we believe they are more chihuahua than any other breed. If you can provide a safe, calm, loving, patient home for one of these sweet, gentle, adorable puppies, please consider applying today. All adoption fees include current negative hw test if old enough, current age appropriate vaccines including rabies, parvo/distemper, bordatella, current heart worm and flea/tick preventions, lifetime registered microchip, 2 dewormers and transport costs from Texas to the East Coast.
