You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Muffin is a 12-week-old Wiredhair Yorkie Terrier mix (vet's guess) known as "Wired Torkie".
Her favorite things are
Sitting on laps/sofas or curling up in a small round dog bed that fits her snuggly.
Being held in a human's arms or following him/her around the house to always be close.
Playing with toys (especially big ones that barely fit in her mouth) and playing with the other foster puppy chasing or play-biting each other.
Using her paws to get attention (which the foster family say makes her extra cute).
Wagging her tail when she realizes a person wants and loves her!
CRATE TRAINED - YES
Muffin sleeps in crate at night. She likes the crate to be in a bedroom where another dog or people are also sleeping. She feels more secure that way and everyone gets a better night's sleep!
OTHER DOGS - COMPATIBLE
Muffin loves other dogs and will follow them around. She is starting to learn from her foster siblings, for example watching them play with toys or running in the yard. She has already copied them doing "sit" understanding what that word means.
SEPARATION ANXIETY - SOME
When her foster family leaves the house, they put Muffin in a crate due to her not being housebroken. They noticed she has separation anxiety when they leave such as whining and barking. Sometimes she will settle down in a few minutes and go to sleep but other times she will continue to make noises the entire time. Muffin has had a lot of changes recently so being left alone makes her a bit nervous.
Muffin should live in a single-family home where there are no adjoining walls because of how noisy she can possibly get when initially left alone (sometimes high-pitched yelps).
POTTY TRAINED - LEARNING
Muffin has been learning to go potties outside at the foster home (previously she was trained on pee pads by the breeder). She still has accidents in the house but has progressed each day to go outside more. The adopter will need to continue with the potty training of Muffin especially since it will be new environment for her to be in.
LEASH WALKING - ALMOST THERE
Muffin will walk on leash on sidewalks, but she is not a straight-line walker yet. She tends to lose focus with all the "fun" stuff to smell and see on the walk. As she gets more practice leash walking her concentration should become better.
VET NEEDS - IN PROGRESS
Muffin had one set of shots and will need to have two more sets of shots that are required for puppies. She also needs to be spayed before the adoption can be considered as final, which follows the rescue organization's guidelines. The adoption fee covers puppy shots, rabies shot, dewormer, microchip, and spay.
She can go to her permanent home now, but the adopter must be willing to take Muffin to one of the rescue veterinary clinics for the remainder of her vetting. Our facilities are in Riverview, Brandon, Plant City, St. Petersburg, and Sarasota so her new owner will need to plan to travel to one of those (adopter's choice) a few different times.
----------
Muffin's adoption fee is $600. She is currently being fostered in the Plant City area.
The average lifespan for this breed is 15 years. Therefore, Muffin's adopter will need to be prepared to care for her for around 14 more years so she will not have to move to a different home again.
