Texas is a 2 month old, 6 lb. sweet, cuddly terrier mix. He is expected to be around 35 lbs once he is full grown. He is the sweetest little runt of the siblings. But don’t let his size fool you, he got his name cause his heart is as big as the size of Texas. The second he sees you his tail goes into overdrive. He loves to be picked up and held, and he will just melt into your body. He loves attention and spending time with his people.
Texas is low to medium energy, so he will require daily walks and outside playtime, then he is ready to cuddle up with her human for a relaxing nap. He would do well in a laid back, low energy household where he would be able to lounge around with his humans and go on a couple of leisurely walks each day. He will play with toys and his siblings, but boy does he love his snuggles with his favorite humans!
Texas is dog, cat, and kid friendly. He is on the calmer side compared to most of his siblings, so he would do great in a home with kids of any age that he can cuddle and play with. He would fit in great with existing pets in the home as he is sweet and submissive, but he would be just fine being the only fur-child as long as he has plenty of time to spend with his human.
Texas is kennel trained, and he is currently working on potty training and leash training. He is picking up on potty training quickly and is motivated by both praise and food. His ideal home environment would be a house with a fenced in backyard, but he would do well in an apartment, townhouse or condo as long as he gets daily exercise and has a human that is home with him majority of the day to continue his potty training.
If you are interested in adopting Texas, please fill out an application at: https://www.loveandpuppypawsdogrescue.com/adoption-application.
Texas is in a foster home in South Texas and will be transported once adopted. Due to his age and size, he will not be neutered before he heads to his forever home. There is a $200 spay/neuter deposit required that is fully refundable once the procedure is completed. He cannot be adopted in Canada at this time.
TRANSPORT: Currently we have monthly transports. It will be up to the adoptive family to meet the transport to pick up your new family member. Please be advised that our dogs are adopted to their forever families prior to being transported. Unfortunately at this time, we cannot bring dogs for a typical meet and greet situation, due to the extensiveness of the transport distance and it being unfair for the dogs who are not adopted to have to make the trip back.
Please be advised that applications are reviewed in the order that they are received. To ensure we are honoring the dogs that we have committed to helping, we do have policies and procedures in place that we follow when reviewing adoption applications. LAPP Dog Rescue is ran 100% by volunteers, so please be mindful that when you submit an application that it can take a few days to be reviewed. Submitting an application is not a confirmation that the adoption will be approved/completed. Before submitting the application, please read the FULL description on PetFinder describing the dog's personality, energy level, housing requirements and our policy on meet and greets.
The total cost to adopt is $830, which includes a $400 adoption fee, $230 transport fee, and a $200 refundable deposit. The adoption fee includes all age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormer, and health certificate from a licensed veterinarian.
