ADOPT ME ONLINE: https://ophrescue.org/dogs/12666
Hi! My name is Musk and I'm one of the Melon pups that will arrive from Mississippi on May 19th. I"m looking for a family of my own and will arrive just in time for summertime melons. Since everyone loves melons, I hope they'll love me, too! I'm a male, thought to be a Labrador Retriever mix and was born on April 1, 2023. Once I get settled foster mom will post an update on how sweet and snuggly I am -- wait, she doesn't have to wait for me to arrive - we already know that!!
I am just a baby and my adopters should be respectful of my small size and puppy needs, such as not being left alone for more than 4 hours at a time, and to teach me proper manners with play, potty, leash walking and crating. In return, I promise to try really hard to make you proud and to give lots of puppy kisses!
Please note that because this puppy is so young, it has only received 2 of the required 3 puppy distemper vaccinations. This is very IMPORTANT because it means that the immune system will not be fully functioning until about 16 weeks of age. Until then, the puppy MUST stay out of public places where it could be exposed to the germs of other dogs. These no puppy zones include all pet stores, dog parks, and for apartment dwellers, areas used by other dogs. These requirements are strictly for the puppys medical safety and longevity.
This puppy is microchipped and up to date on age appropriate vaccines and monthly preventatives and is available to go home as early as June 2, 2023.

Operation Paws for Homes, Inc. (OPH) rescues dogs and cats of all breeds and ages from high-kill shelters in NC, VA, MD, and SC, reducing the numbers being euthanized. With limited resources, the shelters are forced to put down 50-90% of the animals that come in the front door. OPH provides pet adoption services to families located in VA, DC, MD, PA and neighboring states. OPH is a 501(c)(3) organization and is 100% donor funded. OPH does not operate a shelter or have a physical location. We rely on foster families who open their homes to give love and attention to each pet before finding a forever home. All adult dogs, cats, and kittens are altered prior to adoption. Puppies too young to be altered at the time of adoption must be brought to our partner vet in Ashland, VA for spay or neuter paid for by Operation Paws for Homes by 6 months of age. Adopters may choose to have the procedure done at their own vet before 6 months of age and be reimbursed the amount that the rescue would pay our partner vet in Ashland.
