Meet Blake a special, cute boy, born approximately August 2019, is looking for a special home.
Blake was found as a stray in North Texas with his sister who would not leave his side. A kind lady found them and contacted GPRS. Our rescue volunteer found Blake's body lifeless, extremely emaciated and he could not stand because his leg was injured. Our volunteer immediately took him to the vet and was told he would most probably need an amputation to address an old and very painful break. But Blake had a strong will and with the help of the vet and GPRS, he recovered and his leg has healed without having it removed. Now he's happy, healthy and quite the love bug.
His foster mom says "He has a little hitch in his walk but he runs and plays just fine." He may need supplements; physical therapy and may be prone to arthritis in the future. After all that he has been through, his foster mom says "He has the sweetest disposition and he is great with other dogs. Blake will probably not be one for really long hikes, but will be a perfect family dog."
Blake is inquisitive, bouncy and fun but he also loves to cuddle. He will require a canine companion to mentor him as he continues to learn the rules of his new world and that isn't rough as they might hurt his leg while playing. He will need someone who can be home with him a lot and provide love, patience and boundaries to help him become a loyal companion. If you are the special family, our special boy Blake seeks, please complete an application today. He is currently being fostered in WA.
PUPPIES ARE ONLY PLACED IN HOMES WITH YOUTHFUL, PLAYFUL RESIDENT DOGS.
Our requirements for puppy adoption are simple and necessary.
Our puppies are not livestock guardians, they are family pets that live inside the family home.
Puppies must be placed in homes with a youthful, adult resident dog of similar size. This gives the puppy a mentor and a solid foundation for becoming part of the family.
Puppies are only adopted to homes with someone at home at least part of the day. If no one is home for 6-8 hours at a time, please do not apply.
Preference is always given to those with Great Pyrenees experience.
Applicants must have secure, visible fencing and a socialization plan in place.
The fastest way to be considered for a puppy is to fill out an application. Adoption is not first come, first served. GPRS and its fosters work diligently to find the right fit for each and every unique dog and puppy.
Adoption Fee: $275
Adoption applications can be found on our website at https://www.greatpyreneesrescuesociety.org
Northwest adopters pay the cost of transport to independent transport service ($200)
ADOPTION, FOSTERING, AND DONATIONS are just some of the ways you can help a rescued dog. We have worked hard to cultivate a large network of volunteers to save this majestic breed.
