A sixty-two acre Catholic shrine and botanical garden, the Grotto is an oasis of serenity and green space just moments from downtown Portland. Leashed pets are allowed on the premises. Every year, on the third Sunday of July, the Grotto offers the Blessing of the Animals. This event draws a variety of creatures, ranging from snakes to furry four-legged friends.
