Weldon Springs State Park is a 550-acre pet-friendly park in Clinton, Illinois. A 29-acre, spring-fed lake with two miles of shoreline is the main attraction at this park, and it can be enjoyed from the Lakeside Self-Guiding Interpretive Trail that circles the banks of the lake. There are a number of other trails that weave around the woods that surround the water, including The Beaver Dam Trail, at less than a mile it will take you up woodland slopes to hidden ponds, and across a small stream. If you visit at nighttime, you'll hear frogs, insects, and owls in chorus. Alternatively, you can try the longer trail, the Old Farm Trail, 3.1-miles of mowed grass that leads to campgrounds around the lake. There are a few other trails as well. Dog owners are reminded to keep their pooch on a leash for the duration of their visit.
