First Heritage State Park

102 S State Street, Dover, DE, US, 19901

Dogs are welcome at First Heritage State Park. Described as a park without boundaries that links historic and cultural sites in the city of Dover, this urban park is a little different to most other state parks. You can wander with Fido around the historic and cultural sites, including John Bell House, the Old State House, Woodburn and Hall House, and a number of other buildings and sites. The Market Fair, a homage to the 18th century, is an interesting event at First Heritage State Park with woodworkers and weavers, horners, blacksmiths and brewers, charlatans and shepherds, soldiers, seamstresses, soapmakers all displaying their skills on Dover's historic Green. The park office is open Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 4:30pm and is worth checking out before you start your tour of the sites.
