Hi there, I’m Berg, a 1yr old 18 lbs, happy Jack Russell Terrier mix pup!
I love to be around my foster mom and foster pup siblings and love playing with with my fur siblings, human and/or toys, cause, you see, I’m FULL of puppy energy! Leash walks are great and playing in the yard is super cool, but for the next few months my activity needs to be limited, YEP!! limit a puppy from being too active. Challenge accepted. More on this in a bit.
I would do best as a one and only, as I love all the attention and really don’t want to share, but…. If you have a submissive pup, I’m up for a meet and greet and see how we do. I wuv to snuggle, I luv to play, I loooove leash walks, and did I mention I love my human? I would do best in a home where “my” people are home more often than not. I am crate trained, bonus! and don’t think you can fool me and put me in a x-pen or put up a baby gate to keep me in a room, nope, not gonna work cuz’ I am agile and can jump over some standard baby/dog gates, pens and barriers. HA!!! Don’t leave food on the kitchen counter unless you want me to have it cuz’ yep, I can take things (yummy food) in a blink of an eye. With a little training… WE (meaning I) can over come this playful discovery. Don’t get me wrong I don’t destroy things I just, well, love food..
Now, for the reason why I need to be kept calm for a bit. When VIP Rescue was asked to save me from a rural shelter I was at, it was known I am heart worm positive, but don’t let that stop you from adopting me! I have already been started on the treatment, and VIP Rescue covers all these expenses, but you do need to live within 1 hour of the St Petersburg area to take me to my date sensitive appointments with the “dog”ter for my treatment. I’ll also need to take it slow for a while, no long walks or romping/zoomies in the yard until my “dog”ter tells us it’s ok. We have to listen to the Dr for me to get all better. My VIP friends will explain everything in detail to you. I have a combo wire and hair coat, I do shed some, but please know I will require grooming every so often, so keep this in mind when you are considering me for adoption. The cost can vary anywhere from $60.00 and up every 2-3 months.
I am microchipped, current on my vaccines, I have been neutered and am on heart worm and flea prevention.
Do you think I might be the guy for you? I sure hope so.. If so, please submit an application with VipRescue.org. I can’t wait to meet you and dazzle you with my charm.
Adoption Requirements: You must be a Florida resident, and be at least 25 years of age to adopt. To qualify for adoption, all of the pets in your home must be spayed or neutered, be current on all vaccines, preventatives, and have received consistent veterinary care. If you’ve had more than one Vet in the past 3 years, please provide all the names and number for each vet. This breed typically lives 13-18 years, so please keep that lifespan in mind, as your age should be appropriate for the pets estimated lifespan.
All of us at VIP Rescue are Volunteers, with families, jobs and pets of our own, so please be kind and patient. We select the most fitting application for the dog, not necessarily the timeliest adoption application. Please make sure to read the entire bio on the pet you’re interested in before applying to adopt to make sure you meet the pets needs. Thank you for thinking rescue.
