Peppermint, who we refer to as Pepper, is a precious almost three month old twoish pound Chihuahua mix. She can be a little shy at first and get those Chi shakes initially, but pretty quickly she warms up and gives kisses and tail wags. She has a dainty frame and long legs and when she gets the zoomies with her small size, safety is a concern around feet or the edges of a bed. She enjoys the company of other dogs if they are calm. Peppermint is a gentle sweet girl. She enjoys piling her tiny toys into her bed. She has also recently just started exploring the backyard on a harness and leash and loves all the smells. At present Pepper is still going potty on a washable pee pad.
Peppermint came with her mom at less than a week old. She had to be bottle fed as her mom Noelle didn't produce enough milk. But she definitely got cleaned up and nurtured by her mom who was adopted into a wonderful family recently. Pepper also survived a cold when she was a tiny newborn at just over 104 grams. So her foster mom definitely wants to keep in touch with her adopter after putting in so much time and love into her survival. Pepper looks just like her mom whose adopter tested her and found out mom is a Chi Yorkie Poodle mix with multiple other small breeds.
Pepper will make a wonderful companion. Due to her small size we are looking for a one story home with an adult(s) where she won't be a trip hazard and no young children since she could easily be stepped on, sat on, or dropped with her wiggles. Due to her size she is being adopted with an addendum for delayed spay when she is a little bigger (at least 6-8 months of age). The adopter will need to bring her back to one of our vets for her spay surgery which the rescue will cover. She will need an adopter who can take her out for potty breaks every 2-3 hours while house training and to continue her socialization with other people and dogs. . If you live in the Central Florida/Orlando area and think Peppermint is a great fit please send in an application and let us know more about your family.
