You may recognize this sweet face, Texas was the pup who came to us a few weeks ago after falling out of the bed of a pickup truck. She still has some healing left to do, but is doing leaps and bounds better! In fact, she will be ready to leave on 5/26!
Now, it the last few weeks we have learned a lot of things about Texas. Most importantly, she has the goofiest, sweetest, most ridiculous personality. She is 100% Aussie, and wants to be right next to you, or in your lap at all times. She is going to make someone the best companion.
She loves to play with other dogs, and we mean LOVES to play, but she also doesn't realize how rough she is playing. In her foster home she didn't do well with dogs under 15lbs, she wasn't aggressive in any way, in fact she was TO playful and tends to pounce on them and want to chase them around playfully, and doesn't stop for long even when corrected. however, she loves to play with dogs so much, we are hoping to place her in a home with another active and confident dog her size.
Similarly, she would probably do best without cats, because when they run she LOVES to chase them. Once they get up on a perch she walks away, but this can definitely be stressful for cats in home, and may not be a habit that will be broken over time.
Lastly, we are looking to place her in a home with Kiddo's over 6 years of age. Texas is very much a young puppy who hasn't learned any manners. She loves to jump, and Jump, and Jump, and while she is slowly learning down, she still gets excited and launches herself into new people. Additionally, she loves to rough house, and sticks everything in her mouth, especially arms and fingers. While we have zero doubts she will grow out of this with training, it is going to take quite a bit of time and patience. So we are looking to place her with older kiddos.
Texas is the type of dog you don't see in shelters too often, highly intelligent, exceptionally sweet, and with that extra splash of all the puppy energy. She's not going to be happy as a couch potato, and would much rather be on the go, staying busy or going on adventures. Her potential adopters should be familiar with canine enrichment and have a plan in place to keep both her mind and body busy.
If you're interested in Texas, adoption applications are available on our website. If multiple applications are received we will be placing her in the best match home. https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/FBG/Dog
