Lyle is a 8 month old cattle dog mix (with what we aren't sure) who weighs 45 lbs.
He's good at going potty outside and can hold it as needed.
Crate trained and goes in easily.
Like a puppy he will steals things left on the floor so he needs chew toys always available.
He only barks when excited or is playing and to be let in from outside.
Mostly sleeps in his crate but also likes the couch or a dog bed.
Every dog is a playmate to Lyle.
No cats for Lyle. Too much prey drive.
He's still learning to be comfortable with new people but has no aggression at all. A home without children is best.
Pulls a bit when on the leash since he loves walks but can definitely learn!
Loves car rides and will put his nose out the window if allowed. Waits in the car nicely for brief periods when foster mom is running errands.
Commands known: "wipe your paws', "unhook" (from harness), working on "come/come on"
Likes: shoes, socks, slippers, paper, plush toys, squeaky and crinkle toys, rubber treat dispenser toys, chasing balls, nylabones, does enjoy pets and will lay next to foster mom when watching tv. Could be a frisbee dog candidate.
Dislikes: garbage cans, messy yards, trash bags or any pile on the curb, driveways full of vehicles, and pick-up trucks. He was rescued from a ghetto area after fending for himself on the street so Lyle is looking forward to living in a nice neighborhood. Who can blame him!
The best home for Lyle would be with a female owner who is a runner/outdoors and has a dog that needs a playmate. He will also thrive in a peaceful home environment. He needs a caring patient Mom and dog sibling who will help him blossom into a confident well socialized doggie. Lyle can be happy walking the same route every day but also does well venturing out to new greenbelts and nature areas. He needs a lot of patience with men as clearly they were not kind to him in his first months of life. Male dog whisperers can help doggies like Lyle learn to trust. Hopefully his forever Mom has a few around who are especially good with doggies.
Lyle has a beautiful prance when he's happy and its such a sight to see. He also really loves the snow! He loves running and has a look of sheer joy on his face when he runs. And he's a stunning pup who gets lots of compliments when he's out and about.
He is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines including rabies, heartworm negative and current on prevention.
No apartment homes will be considered.
There will be transport fees (varies upon arrangements made per discussion) in addition to the $300 adoption fee.
