Howdy Everyone! They call me Remus. My name comes from ancient Rome even though I am more of a snow kind of dog. I am about a year old and healthy as a horse. I love my people and am a true cuddle bug. It has been said that I have no concept of ‘personal space’ and would rather sit on you than by you! Since I am a youngster, I have lots of energy and love to play. I do pretty well with other dogs as long as they have the same high energy level that I do. I know a few commands and am learning to walk like a good pup on a leash. I can get pretty excited when I see another dog or something that is worth chasing like squirrels but my foster parents have been working on the ‘on by’ command to let me know that I need to calm down. I will sit by your side if we are out on a walk and you need to rest for a minute. I certainly don’t need down time but I have found that the two-legged critters seem to tire easier than I do! I also am working on ‘down’ and ‘paw’ but I sometimes get them confused. I am a pretty fast learner although I don’t always let my foster peeps know that I understand what they want. After all I am a Malamute and have to show some disinterest or I might get 86’d from the Malamute Club!
My favorite things in life are food/treats, being called a good dog and playing in the water. As I have said before, I do love a good chase so I probably shouldn’t be around cats, smaller dogs or anything else that thinks it can out run me. I have been known to be a counter surfer but not always for food. I seem to have an addiction to plastic storage containers that are left sitting out. I have a touch of separation anxiety if I don’t know where my people are so a buddy to play with would really make me happy. Its best to feed me away from the other dogs if you have one or two. My short stints in shelters caused me to worry about my next meal so I can sometimes try to guard my food. Someone was spreading the nasty rumor that I was a jumper but my fosters have not seen any sign of this. I will admit, I will dig some but so far have no desire to learn Chinese so my holes aren’t too deep. Again, let me say how much I love my people.
Remus is neutered, up to date on shots, and very healthy. He loves people and other dogs and would really like a buddy to spend his time with as long as they are a high energy playmate. He will need some training for commands, walking on a leash and general obedience. Remus is in a great foster home but really wants a home that he can call his own. If you think you can provide that loving home, please fill out an application and make Remus’ day!
